Backstage before I showed my collection at Fashfest I was interviewed by Fashion One TV, lovely people to chat to about my concept for the collection. So awkward watching myself but I guess it is good practice! Wow I use my hands alot when I talk!

Last Thursday I opened the Sustainable Threads parade created by art curator Chris Watson for the Belconnen Arts Centre. The collection was brand new to what I showed at Fashfest Canberra a month earlier (madness!) I decided
to use the same concept of the Yarralumla Brickworks and expand on my ideas from Fashfest. I was happy with the relaxed look of the final garments and had fantastic models! Ash pictured on the left above even won the unusual cash prize of 'Best Model'!! The hair from Hair in the City Canberra was fantastic and the makeup girls did a great job. Eric Piris of Red Photography took the beautiful photo above - more soon I hope! I especially like how the wool looks so textured in the photo, very fitting for the Sustainable Threads concept. The majority of the collection was made from NZ Merino wool and cotton jersey. The collection will be available from Department of the Exterior, Manuka ACT from tomorrow. These pieces will be the starting point for my collection that I will be shooting in Melbourne in August! Get excited because I love some good wintery layering! |
