Day 2 started with going to Eeunhee's studio and showroom, EcommaE. It was great to sit down and hear more from her about her label. Eeunhee and I decided on the Monday that we wanted to work together on a collaboration, can you tell I was a little excited to see her studio?! Lucky I am addicted to coffee as the Korean's love it! Not so good for Bianca, Mel and Icaro. Eeunhee showed me some of her patterns and talked through how she designs her garments. My Korean design mate Eeunhee of EcommaE, such a lovely person and talented designer Walking around the shops in the Hannam-dong Fashion area then lunch at Parc restaurant and coffee Then we went to where Eeunhee makes her samples, just amazing the access that they have to all these amazing machines and makers. The technology that they were working on at KITECH was fantastic, I especially loved this kids jacket that has solar powered lights, we also saw bags and wallets with solar powered parts. We then got a little taste of some of the fabric markets, the trim markets and the labels/embroidery/printing markets. Pretty much you could make anything you want here. I can't wait to go back with more of a plan and knowledge of what I saw during my first time so that I can make the most of the markets in Seoul as they were very overwhelming. That evening we went to our first HERA Seoul Fashion Week show at Dongdaemun Design Plaza also known as DDP. The building is unbelievable! It was designed by Zaha Hadid and is HUGE. A big thanks to Professor Jisoo Ha for getting us front row tickets to the Generation Next Seoul parade to see D-Antidote and L.Aimant click on the label names for a link to more about their labels. We finished off the day with a walk around the large shopping centers around DDP and then to some markets close by.
